Two Shell is cool. The either-enigmatic-or-just-too-new London-based pair cut a sick little white label last year called ‘home,’ and all the cool people played it at the places that were cool enough to be played at. They did a pretty cool job of keeping the track off the internet during this time, limiting listens to radio shows and recordings. It was one of those cool periods of time where I had a few different radio shows bookmarked at the moment the track was mixed so I could get that sweet taste. Now, at the start of 2022, I own the track and can get that dopamine hit whenever I’m feeling cool. ‘home’ is a cheeky fast-and-dirty-style piece, centering around a hefty heavily distorted vocal sample. It’s all energy all the time, filling all the quiet moments with twitchy, jittering percussive interludes. The effect is pretty timeless, but I might just be too of-the-times to see it any different. They were cool and threw in the track ‘no reply’ on this digital release, a nice track in its own right, but certainly not the reason we’re all here. Pretty cool. 🍍
