LADYMONIX - Welcome 2 My House

June 30, 2023

June 30, 2023 - Studio Barnhaus

[SCENE: A barren, empty space. LADYMONIX bursts onto the stage through the back wall, hauling DJ decks behind her. The solid concrete floor gives way as monolithic speakers emerge and AUX cables sprawl towards available ports. Onlookers appear out of thin air in the once-vacant space, turning their attention to LADYMONIX with curious anticipation.]

LADYMONIX: (smiles with commanding presence)

AUDIENCE MEMBER 1: (murmuring) What is happening?

[Resounding music erupts from the towering speakers, a forceful symphony of house beats and piano stabs that shakes the dust off the walls. The ceiling illuminates with a pulsating, trance-inducing glow that cascades onto the mesmerized crowd below.]

AUDIENCE MEMBER 2: (shivering slightly) It feels a bit chilly in here; the reverberation is cold!

[A peculiar vibe lingers as the audience grapples with the surreal atmosphere. LADYMONIX, however, moves with purpose, understanding the unfolding situation. Through manipulating reverb, the space morphs and expands into a vibrant dance haven. Visible breaths escape open mouths as bodies begin moving to the infectious beats, a reaction to both the beats and the desire to generate heat. ]

The people don’t understand. LADYMONIX does. Artificial room-building through reverb becomes reality, stretching and expanding the space into a proper dance depot. The chill in the air is also real. Condensed breath emanates from open mouths. Bodies begin to move, a reaction to both the beats and the desire to generate heat.

AUDIENCE MEMBER 3: (excitedly) It's like Tubular Bells meets Elsewhere in Brooklyn!

[An odd invocation. The beats on offer here do not resemble Tubular Bells but they do belong in Elsewhere. LADYMONIX pushes buttons and yanks chains, skillfully weaving a sonic tapestry that compels bodies into motion. The icy beats act as a soothing contrast, cooling the feverish fervor spreading across the dance floor, a result of kinetic friction.]

AUDIENCE MEMBER 4: (engrossed) Sometimes overblown, never unwelcome!

[Frequencies clash and collide, creating moments of overpowering auditory intensity. LADYMONIX teases the audience, withholding the full force of sound until the brink, evoking a longing for the resurging intensity. Like jumping back and forth between the hot tub and the pool. The contrast builds and builds. Sometimes LADYMONIX goes off on tangents, chasing an errant rabbit down a hole in the last moments of the track. But the groove always rights itself, always finds its way back to the dance floor.]

AUDIENCE MEMBER 5: (enthused, inaudible shouting)

[The music crescendos, filling the space as bodies sway and pulse with the beats. LADYMONIX navigates the sonic landscape, leading the audience through an exhilarating experience. The play culminates in a final burst of energy, leaving everyone invigorated and longing for more.]
